"Undercurrent" is a comedy featuring rich characters in a mysterious fictional Minnesota city named Confluence, where the Mississippi and Minnesota rivers meet. Former big city detective Joe Samuel moves back to his hometown to care for his ailing mother. Joe is recruited by Confluence's new mayor and former love interest Marjorie Steen to clean up her corrupt town. The effort is being bankrolled by a wealthy citizen who remains anonymous. Joe hires two assistants; an exuberant young actor Gage Murphy and a hairdresser-turned-tech expert Pauline Hingis. Joe's team goes to work investigating the shady dealings of local menswear store owner Jimmy Rickman and the powerful and Confluence's openly dishonest police chief Larry Spinkter.
